Out of Bounds is taking a look at how the Phillies got to where they are at today. We started with 2000 and today will look at the 2002 team.

To date, 2002 was the last time the Phillies finished under .500, but just a tad under at 80-81. The Phils finished in third place.
In 2002, the Phillies drew 1.6 million fans.
The team started off slow, going 9-18 in April. After a strong 18-10 August, they struggled down the stretch, going 12-15 in September.
Bobby Abreu hit .308 with 20 homers, 85 RBI, 102 runs, and 31 stolen bases.
Pat Burrell had a huge year, hitting 37 home runs and knocking in 116. He had a respectable .282 average.
Vicente Padilla led the team with 14 wins and Jose Mesa had 45 saves.
