A look back at the 2006 Phillies

Out of Bounds is taking a look at how the Phillies got to where they are at today. We started with 2000 and today will look at the 2006 team.

Following a year in which he won Rookie of the Year, first baseman Ryan Howard took home the league MVP. It was the first time in 20 years that a Phillie had been voted the most valuable player (Mike Schmidt - 1986).

Howard led the majors in home runs with 58 and had 149 RBI.

The Phils won 85 games and finished in second place in the division, drawing 2.7 million fans.

Chase Utley had 32 homers, Pat Burrell had 29, and Jimmy Rollins had 25 to go along with 36 stolen bases.

Brett Myers had 12 wins, Ryan Madson had 11, and Cole Hamels had 9. Tom Gordon had 34 saves.
